Sienna joined us after nearly a decade-long search for the perfect bay! I was very particular, looking for a bay who could tick all the boxes: great movement, breeding quality conformation, traditional type to include a proportionally small head and ears, and a pedigree that for a bay in North America would be unique to our genetic pool, without being obscure.
Along came her sire, Wellbrow Lancashire Lad, who in 2012 made a name for himself at the FPS Stallion Show in England, taking first place in the 2 year old colt class, going on to be crowned both the Youngstock Champion on the day, as well as Overall Supreme Champion (an impressive feat for a two year old!). It was three years later in 2015, on a visit to Cumbria, England, when I saw the progeny that Lad was producing that I was convinced.  When the foal crop of 2016 rolled in, there were only a select number of bay filly foals to be had, and it was the very gracious Roberts family of Bybeck in Tebay, England, who allowed me to purchase the lovely filly Sienna.
Sienna's dam, Greenholme Rose (pictured below), proved herself as a top producing mare with 11 foals to her credit. Sienna has a pedigree dotted with top performing ponies in the family line: Bybeck Kingfisher, FPS licensed stallion (maternal sibling); Bybeck Kasper, FPS licensed stallion (with Greenholme Rose as granddam); and Bybeck Sapphire (paternal sibling), a 2017 & 2018 youngstock champion at shows across the UK.

We feel very privileged indeed to have such a special mare in our herd, as Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth acquired a maternal sister to our Sienna, Bybeck Nightingale (pictured above left) several years after we imported Sienna, via their shared dam Greenholme Rose. There are less than a handful of Fell Ponies in North America with lineage this close to the Queen's own selections.

Sienna is a joy to handle and is always vying for our attention. She has had an excellent start as a broodmare and will begin her ridden instruction when appropriate.
